The awards are a prestigious recognition of the contributions made by members of the community towards the goals of Safer Calgary in the areas of violence prevention, injury prevention, and natural and built environment. They are presented each year to acknowledge and recognize individuals, groups, communities and corporations for the work they voluntarily undertake to make Calgary a safer place at work, home, and play. The Jim Gray Safer Calgary Awards for 2007 will be presented during a special ceremony at the 2008 Safety Expo. Your nomination should include the name(s) of the nominees, the category you are suggesting they be considered for and a short description (up to 200 words) outlining the reasons you believe the person(s) should be a recipient. Jim Gray Community Award Awarded to a non-government, not for profit organization that has made a significant contribution to community safety in Calgary by implementing, improving, supporting, or assisting a local project or program. Jim Gray Corporate Award Awarded to a Calgary business for innovative and/or exemplary leadership in promoting and implementing safety practices and awareness within their company and in the community. Jim Gray Safer Calgary Award Awarded to an outstanding Calgarian who has made a recent or life long extraordinary contribution that has improved the safety of life in Calgary or whose recent safety achievements have brought recognition to Calgary. Jim Gray Youth Award Awarded to an individual or group of Calgarians, 18 years of age or younger on December 31, of the year of nomination, whose achievements in the promotion of safety have brought recognition towards making Calgary a safer place for all.
